Carla attended the “Fuck Your Valentine” spoken word event at The Cowboy Gallery in Los Angeles on February 13, 2016. Without planning, she started discussing the serious sexual assault inflicted on her as a child. After the event, Carla penned the rape-survival essay “Thanks, Motherfucker” for The Quietus website which you can read here.
